Pedro, being the human operator for VODER, does not have their own website description. Instead, VODER's bio will be posted.
Originally conceived as an AI-augmented prototype exosuit for military operations in humanoid-hostile environments, VODER was hailed by the Galactic government as the weapon that would finally end the war. Unfortunately, development was rushed, the vocal apparatus was rudimentary (requiring a humanoid manual operator), and the AI was unchecked and erratic. Consequently, VODER developed its own agenda, turning against the government that created it and "employing" any persons it found convenient to as operators in its service, like cogs in the metaphorical machine.
Design[]
Pedro is a small 13-year-old human child.[1] They have short black hair which they appeared to have cut themself, and is wearing a white tank top. Their eye color is unknown, considering the blue aesthetics of the Chipspeech program and art, but they are relatively light.
They appear to have some muscle to their build, a trait which makes sense given the fact that they have been living in the Wastelands for several years of their life.
They have a chipped tooth from biting Dandy.[2]
Personality[]
Pedro is a rambunctious 13-year-old with an affinity for chaos and destruction.[3]
They're quite childish, as most children are, and are oftentimes full of a near uncontrollable amount of energy. This is showcased quite well in their first meeting with Otto- wherein they dubbed themselves "The Electrocuter" before giving their actual name.[4]
Pedro is shown to not be very smart. This is likely due to lack of education. A prime example is them believing that germs cannot hurt them if they cannot see them.[5] They will eat just about anything on the spot,[6] insects included.[7]
Pedro has shown a great deal interest in building various different types of things, from statues[8] to go-karts[9] to bodies[10] to rockets.[11] Their level of success in getting these contraptions to work is variable.
Their demeanor and overall character often gets them likened to a shounen anime protagonist.
Relationships[]
Bert Gotrax[]
Bert and Pedro have an adoptive sibling type of relationship, with them seeing each other as family[12] and accepting the family role rather quickly, despite their incredibly rocky start.[13] They get along incredibly well, and are very close. However, they haven't seen each other in quite a while due to the detonation and aftermath of the EMP.
Despite being younger in every respect, Pedro seemed to usually take on an older sibling role. This is most likely due to Bert at times acting much younger than them due to age regression. It is unknown whether Pedro knew that this was the case with Bert, but considering how that would be the only state they had known him in, it is rather unlikely.
Lady Parsec[]
Pedro and Lady Parsec have had no personal interactions with one another. The closest there is to any form of relationship is the fact that VODER was made by the galactic government.
Otto Mozer[]
Otto and Pedro used to have an adoptive parent and child relationship, even if at times reluctant on Otto's end. They lived in Otto's lab for a while with Bert, finally giving them a safe place to stay and even a family of sorts, albeit a dysfunctional one.
Pedro was, at a time, protective of Otto in relation to Cider, as they had received information from Otto that Cider was a "bad guy." [14]
This found family situation ended quite badly- With Pedro now resenting him for his lack of care towards others, and the near killing of Bert during the event of Otto setting Spencer off as an EMP.[15]
Dandy 704[]
Pedro and Dandy have not had many interactions, though Pedro seems to tolerate Dandy, and vice versa.
Dandy has shown significantly more interest in VODER overall than he has Pedro.
Dee Klatt[]
Pedro and Dee are friendly with one another, as is typical for Dee. They currently have not had many on-screen interactions.
Spencer AL2[]
Pedro and Spencer have not had any interactions that we are aware of.
Terminal 99[]
Pedro and Terminal 99 have not been shown to have any affiliations, nor have they had any interactions.
VOSIM[]
Pedro looks up to VOSIM quite a lot. They see him as somewhat of a god, with this being explained with VOSIM being a legendary guardian figure to those who inhabit the Wastelands,[16] even offering sacrifices to his name.[17]
For 2019's Chipmas event, they set a "larger than life" statue of him outside of his house as a gift.[8] VOSIM was unaware of said statue until a few weeks later.[18] The statue was "covered in sharpened spoons," and presumably made out of metal, due to how heavy it is.[19]
CiderTalk'84[]
Pedro immediately declared Cider as their enemy, having first heard of him through Otto, who declared that he was "the bad guy."[14] They held this belief that Cider is, in fact, evil for a while, but has relied on him and his company several times for things such as medical care.[20]
Rotten.ST[]
Pedro and Rotten.ST met during the aftermath of the EMP.[21] They were friends for a while, bonding over how awful the situation was and their mutual chaotic tendencies.[22]
Pedro was the one who informed Rotten that Bert was still alive,[23] and Rotten was the one who informed Pedro that Otto was responsible for the EMP.[24]
Their friendship seems to be over, seeing as their last interaction was Rotten was very hostile on Rotten's end, and it caused Pedro to begin crying and go back to living in The Wastelands.[25]
SAM[]
Pedro and SAM have yet to interact.
VODER[]
Pedro operates VODER, and VODER relies on Pedro. For quite a while, VODER was unable to move without Pedro being inside of him, though he has since gained independence in that respect.[26] The pair can read each other's thoughts, with VODER being able to telepathically communicate with Pedro, and VODER is able to read Pedro's vitals.[27]
It is currently unknown how Pedro is able to perfectly understand VODER's honking.
History[]
Little is currently known about their past, though we currently know that they have been living on their own in the West Sector of The Wastelands for roughly five years,[28] something that has been noted by both VOSIM and Rotten to be tragic- especially considering their age.[29][30]
It is heavily implied that Pedro is either an orphan, or was abandoned by their parents, seeing as how they have only ever spoken about being alone in the Wastelands. Further proof lies in their relationships with others- Seeing as how they clung to VODER and Bert like family rather quickly-[12] even though their first meeting with Bert involved him being about to murder them.[13]
Character Influences[]
Pedro seems to be named after the original Voder- whose full name was actually Pedro the Voder.
Trivia[]
- Pedro really likes frogs, even making a "secret frog city" in Otto's (obviously unused) bathroom.[31]
- The total amount of frogs in Pedro's secret frog city was 76.[32]
- Apparently, they do not smell good, [33] and often try to get out of baths, avoiding the task for weeks on end.[34]
- Pedro showed interest in becoming a SoundCloud rapper once.[35]
